One of the nasties I talk about a lot is sulfates -- THIS ONE IS A BEAST!!!
Known as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS), sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES), ammonium lauryl sulfate (ALS), and sodium pareth sulfate -- among many other hidden names, such as: Sodium laurel sarcosinate, Sodium dodecyl sulfate, Sodium myreth sulfate, Sodium parted sulfate, Magnesium laureate sulfate, Sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate,1,4 Dioxane, a common impurity of SLES (probable carcinogen) -- Alkylbenzene sulfonate, Ammonium laureth or lauryl sulfate, Ammonium or Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium cocoyl sarcosinate, Sodium laureth sulfate, Sodium myreth sulfate, Sodium lauryl sulfate, Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, TEA- dodecylbenzenesulfonate, Ethyl PEG-15 cocamine sulfate, Sodium dodecyl Sulfate, Sulphuric Acid, Sodium salt sulfuric acid, Sodium salt, and Dioctyl sodium sulfosuccinate -- these can also be under a plethora of trade names)

Sulfates are nothing to mess around with.
Here are some facts about SULFATES:
*Toxic, irritating detergents and surfactants that can be found in most body and hair care products
*A major skin irritant
*Gives a rich, foaming lather, but is providing a false sense of clean (used because it is very cheap)
*Easily penetrates dermal layers and enters the bloodstream, and can destroy the delicate lipid layers that keep skin supple and smooth.
*Harsh sulfates dry out skin and hair, inadvertently making them dull and brittle as they invite other toxins to more easily penetrate the skin’s surface.
*Traces of SLS have even shown up in the tissues from the brain, liver, heart and other vital organs, suggesting that it can be retained in the body for longer than we might realize. The chemical can cause erosion and irritation of the eyes and mouth (sensitive teeth, anyone?), and prolonged exposure is associated with hair loss, gum problems (receding gums, anyone?), blurred vision and more.
*Most toothpastes, soaps, shampoos, are filled with SLS, sodium lauryl sulfate, which causes the “fun” foaming action. However, SLS is actually a pesticide and herbicide and has been linked to cancer, neurotoxicity, organ toxicity, skin irritation, and endocrine disruption.
This is scary stuff my friends and definitely nothing to mess around with!
