Getting a massage may seem like a no brainer.  I don’t think any of us would argue that getting a massage is very relaxing and something we could use daily!  But did you know that there are actually a lot of health benefits to receiving a massage? So, yes, it’s a good idea to take care of yourself in this way!

Getting a massage helps to relieve stress overall, improve circulation, and relax your muscles.  Getting a massage can also help to boost your immune system while also helping your posture to improve.  Getting a massage can help to remove toxins from your body as it is one way to stimulate your lymphatic system to drain.

Lastly, let’s not underestimate the power of touch.  It’s crazy what touch (and especially hugging) from another human being can do for us!  It makes us feel important, reduces stress, lowers blood pressure, and releases “feel good” hormones from the brain including oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin.  Too little serotonin is linked to depression.

So, go out today and get yourself a massage or two.  And once you do, you’ll be able to pay it forward and give someone you love a massage and the gift of touch that they also greatly need.
