We started to notice it in her early 50s. “She’s just going through menopause,” we said. The truth is the future was going to be very grim. This was her Alzheimer’s Disease starting to rear its ugly head.
My mom died 7 years later and the autopsy revealed what we thought all along — Early Onset Alzheimer’s. She was 59 years young.
The truth is that disease — my mom’s Alzheimer’s is not an exception -- doesn’t happen overnight. Years of lifestyle and diet choices, mindset and probably the biggest one — lack of forgiveness — all play a big roll in your body creating dis-ease (opposite of ease).
In the case of my mom, looking back, I am certain at least some, if not all of these factors contributed to her illness.
Be sure to join our tribe and subscribe to our newsletter, because over the course of the next several weeks, I am going to share with you what I’ve learned about how I believe my mom got Alzheimer’s, and the choices I am making in my own life to give me the best chance of not having the same fate.
For me, because I experienced Alzheimer’s so close, what I choose to do in my life may seem a bit extreme to some. For me it’s the path to my goal — a long, healthy, fun and fulfilled life — to 120 years, and beyond! What’s your goal?
After my mom died, the neurologist told my siblings and me that we should be tested to see if we might “be susceptible” to also getting Early Onset Alzheimer’s. He especially wanted my sister and me to have the testing done because women are more likely to get Alzheimer’s.
What do you think? Do you think I had the test done? If so, what were the results? Join our email list and tune in to find out the answer — and, I’ll also be sharing with you the number one toxin I try my very best to avoid in my anti-Alzheimer’s journey. I’ll let you know what it is and how I do my best to keep it out of my life.
Are you at risk for Alzheimer’s? Stay tuned in for my series on the things you may be doing that are causing you risk, and what you can do to combat this horrible disease.
