A note from @The_Smile_Enthuisiast, longevity coach and co-creator of our Medicinal Herbal Blends.
Elderberries are rich in anthocyanins, and phenolic acids—which are compounds that have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capabilities. They can also help to reduce damage from oxidative stress in the body.
These medicinal berries also contain special proteins and bioflavonoids that have the ability to destroy pathogens that infect cells in our body. For this reason, elderberries have the ability to significantly enhance immune function and can substantially shorten the duration of your illness if you get sick.
I used elderberries (as a tea, and as a homemade syrup) when I was battling acute bouts of bronchial and respiratory issues. It helped me to loosen and expel congestion in my lungs.
Elderberries can also work to reduce levels of uric acid in the blood. Elevated uric acid is linked to increased blood pressure and negative effects on heart health.
Elderberry can work to increase insulin secretion, and improve blood sugar levels.
This medicinal berry has also been found to inhibit the growth of bacteria like H.pylori and has the potential to improve symptoms of sinusitis and bronchitis.
