Chamomile & Peppermint


Chamomile is a well-known sleep aid. It has the ability to promote a full and restful night’s sleep which is highly beneficial for those who suffer with sleep disturbances, anxiety, stress, insomnia, sleep apnea, or a racing mind.  chamomile tea can help you fall asleep faster and wake up feeling more refreshed. The phenolic compounds present in chamomile tea helps to strengthen your immune system and ward off infections—which is key for those who suffer with stress. I like chamomile as it provides relief from stress and anxiety. Chamomile can help increase the levels of serotonin and melatonin in your body-- These hormones can help reduce stress and worry. Even though the healing qualities of chamomile are widely popular, chamomile should be avoided by pregnant woman as this herb may act as a uterine stimulant. This herb should also be avoided by those that have severe allergic reactions to ragweed pollen.


Peppermint leaves can be a tremendous asset for relieving headaches, migraines, and other stress-related symptoms. A cup of this tea before bed can also help with insomnia, while promoting a sound sleep. It also has compounds to act as a muscle relaxant. Peppermint is also considered to have natural antioxidant properties, in fact, menthol present in peppermint has antimicrobial properties and may help to inhibit pathogens, and their proliferation. Medical Medium says that chamomile and peppermint tea are often used in combination with one another due to their synergistic properties to help the body cleanse, relax, and heal.
